What is His Daily Bite?

As a follower of Christ, the true way to restore our minds, bodies, and spirit is through our Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate healer.

"This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." (Matthew 6:9-13 NIV)

What does that mean?

This prayer reminds us to continue to surrender and depend on Him every single day. Jesus spoke of bread in the sense of daily provisions. What are our daily provisions? Air, water, food, household supplies. This prayer is for our DAILY needs. We were created, by design, as supplicants. Supplicants have a deep reliance on God and recognize human neediness. Jesus is teaching us that we were created by design to have deep awareness of how much we need God.

God cares about our everyday needs. He is a loving Father who cares deeply about His children. So what stops us from pleading to Him? Pride? Selfish ambition? Guilt? Shame? Anger? Our "God is a jealous God." (Exodus 34:14 NIV) Reflect on what is taking your time away from Him. Because He's holding out His hand, waiting for you to reach for it. Recognizing we are nothing without Him is what cultivates a humble heart. A humble heart that seeks Him and desires to abide in proximity at all times.

What does this have to do with His Daily Bite?

As my faith grew, I learned a deeper understanding of my purpose in this life. That whatever I do brings glory to His name. Food is a necessity. And what a beautiful way to become a vessel to nourish the body of Christ than serving comforting, satisfying, nutrient-dense meals and counseling individuals with practical skills that support behavior changes to prevent further progression of disease.

My services are a reminder that we were created to depend on Him every moment of every day. Our struggles are known to Him: our negative relationship with food, disordered eating patterns, or desire to align with societal standards. He heals. Unfortunately, there are some things out of our control - the suffering, diagnosis, broken relationships, mistreatment. But I can say with confidence, from my personal testimonies, our God is bigger than it all. Trust the God who hears all, sees all, and knows all will work altogether for His good.
